“Split” Context
Japanese “Split” Rationale
At the start of the initiative (2019), several Japanese publishers still launched domestically months before Western and Asian markets.
Common constraints included localization and development resources.
Chinese & Korean “split” Rationale
As the framework expanded (2022), a newer pattern emerged among select Chinese and Korean publishers: PC or mobile first, with PlayStation following later. The constraint had shifted from regional localization capabilities to platform readiness and development resource availability.
Mutual Benefit for Publishers & PlayStation
Both models fragmented marketing spend, lost social momentum, Western spoiler fatigue, and revenue decay.
One Hypothesis.
Two business models.
The question stayed constant: did earlier, coordinated availability create more value? Premium studies modeled unit and regional-sales opportunity; the F2P analysis compared early PlayStation players and revenue.
The output was one decision framework—not one universal formula.
From Evidence to Publisher Decisions
Frame the Opportunity
I partnered with analytics teams to connect platform growth, genre demand, and regional audience shifts to each publisher’s portfolio.
Tailor the Business Case
I translated a common hypothesis into partner-specific macro-economics and simultaneous release scenarios.
From Maximizing Profit to Marketing
I aligned key PlayStation cross-functional depts to deliver the key issues of split launching: Paid Media Inefficiencies, Operating Costs, PR Value, Influencer & Content Creator Relationships.
